Socials Organiser Carl Shooter's 90

My first Land Rover was a Series 111 2/14 petrol. I had lots of fun tinkering with her, she was faithful but never went off road. Unfortunately she didn't take kindly to moving to Loughborough, developing engine trouble and as i had yet to discover the club, she was sold - a very sad day which resulted in me sulking and nagging for a replacement.

She was finally replaced with my current 90 2.5 td - which to be honest had seen better days!

It was not a smooth start to the relationship - which is where i discovered the club, Tim and I spent many an hour with our heads under the bonnet during the early days as we discovered a new radiator was needed along with various other essential bits. The electrics also needed a major overhaul as the previous owner had enjoyed, shall we say, a bit of 'diy'!! In fact 4 years down the line i'm still correcting his handy work!!

Jan 2008 saw the installation of chequer plating in the back, tidying up the dash and installing a dog guard to stop items joining me in the cab! New wheels and mud tyres were fitted as was a roof rack. A full service saw a new alternator and new injectors which helped to reduce my smokey trail as well as improving performance

October 2008 saw Brian off the road as his engine was replaced at a local garage. He was fitted with a Discovery 200 TDi - apparantly just in the nick of time too!!

The engine performed well on two London to Brighton runs and the first Midland run. However the Midland run did leave the 90 with a rather suspicious noise coming from the gear box which resulted in it being replaced with a reconditioned one in 2010

Summer 2009 saw Brian receive tree sliders and the installation of, like many other club members, more lights!! A new winch and bumper were added too. It was at this point that I realised that Brian may well benefit from a lick of paint, and replacement of the previous owners plaster filled wing>

A saturday morning saw us sanding, knocking out dints and finally painting the 90 in Standard Nato matt green.  After a new set of decals Brian was transformed- both inside and out!!

2011 has seen the replacement of my roof rack, a mud dash console with radio and cb, insulation to the cab and rear, NAS lights and a most recently a new front grill, grill surround and new front light surrounds. I have also removed the A frame and spots.
