My land rover 90 (aka Mr Bump) owned by Andrew Chapman (aka chapo)
I first bought the 90 as a standard truck with a 2.5TD engine. Over the past couple of years the modifications that I have made are as follows-
Winch bumper with A bar and two 6inch angel eye spot lamps,
Full split charge system with a deep cycle leisure battery and cut off switch,
A hard wired in 12 volt – 230 volt 1000watt inverter,
CB equipped and adapted CB Ariel for the am fm radio.
Full security cubby box with radio CD player
Rock sliders with tree bars,
Rear work lights, high level LED amber recovery lights,
Front light bar, wing mounted britax sockets for work lights and other items,
All extra lighting are switched from the cab and from the secondary battery,
Full external roll cage with wing protectors and front bar,
Land rover discovery 200tdi engine with electric cooling fan,
Halogen angel eye headlamp upgrade and clear lenses,
Swing away spare wheel carrier that opens with back door,
Full home made exsurst system that comes through the rear cross member,
A disc braked rear axle with 2inch drop shock mounts and heavy duty springs with home made spring relocators
A lot of fun has been had with this car over the past couple of years and a lot of problems have happened as well. Things like trees jumping out in front of the truck when doing the odd off-road course have meant a bit of panel beating has been done (more then once!).
One night I went to a friends house for a bit of a party and a few hours later it dropped all the power steering fluid over the road so a new pump and steering box had to be fitted.
On another off road day I went to (not long after putting a new radiator in after the engine swap) I was recovered onto a branch that went straight through the rad, I wasn’t happy.
After replacing one of the prop shaft universal joints the next day I went to a quarry day and on the way home the prop exploded, which was a bit of a shock. Still the dent in the floor is a nice reminder!
When we swapped the engine to the 200tdi disco lump, we were taking the gear box out and I put my hand in the way resulting in a good size hole in my right hand. This hurt a little bit, and after a trip to the local A&E we started work again (thanks to Birdy for being there and helping me with all the work on the truck).
